Last winter's big splashy elementary school production of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" included an infectious version of a song called "Think Positive," sung by two charismatic second graders. While I resisted the urge to yell "-ly!" at the end of each refrain, I like the message. Always have.
So I enjoyed the article "A Primer for Pessimists" in this week's Time Magazine - about how most optimists are actually realists, not just wearing rose-colored glasses but recognizing how to roll with the punches. Particularly liked the "PRP" exercise mentioned and trying to figure out how to present that concept to my kids as a survival tool for life's disappointments.
Because their days will not always be filled with campervans.
